JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort Review

One of the most beautiful properties in India which also has an exquisite golf course has to be the JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa. This is a 5-star luxury resort nestled within the tranquil Nandi Hills region of Bengaluru. The 301-room resort is spread over an area of 275 acres with lot of greenery, has a state-of-the-art extensive 18-hole golf course and a luxury residential project built in collaboration with Prestige group.

Location

The resort is located on the outskirts of Bengaluru and is 20 kms further from Kempegowda International Airport on the way towards Nandi hills.

For someone living in Bengaluru, it would take around 90 minutes to reach as it is a ~50 km drive. The majority of that drive would be on NH 44 so it would be a comfortable drive and you probably would enjoy that too.

Booking

The revenue rates at JW Marriott Prestige Golfshire resort can be somewhere between Rs. 25000 – 35000 per night for the base room category.

Personally, I had booked the Garden Terrace room using the redemption booking option for 23000 points. The revenue rate for the same room was around Rs. 26000 that time so I got almost 88p value per point.

Although the reward rate might not be always this good but you can expect to get a rate of ~28000 points and if you are flexible with dates you may get an even better deal.

Points Redemption & Gold Status

Thanks to my Amex Platinum charge card, I was able to stay at this property for free without having to pay anything out of the pocket 🙂 and get an amazing deal as explained below –

  • Room Booking: Transferred 20K points (got 6K bonus points using offer like this) from Platinum card to Marriott Bonvoy and redeemed 23K points to book the room
  • Room Upgrade: Used the Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status which comes complimentary with Platinum card for one-level room upgrade

Check-in Experience

When you visit the property on the day of check-in, you will for sure be amazed by its size and grandeur. From the facade at the front where you arrive to the welcome lobby and everything else, it sure looked like a 5 star resort that it is.

On the day we arrived the sky was clear at first but then it got cloudy and dark so the interior of the lobby was looking even better with bright lights. We got greeted with a nice welcome drink (fresh juice) and as a gesture they put a sash around us which was a nice touch!

We didn’t have to go to the reception desk for check-in. An executive came to us while we were sipping our drink sitting on the sofa and took care of the check-in formalities. Due to Gold Elite status, we got upgraded to the Executive Club room which is one category above the Garden Terrace room.

Room Experience

After the check-in, we were taken to the ground floor (Welcome lobby is on 1st floor) and taken to our room through the Golf cart as our room was in a block few hundred metres away from the lobby block.

As soon as we entered the room, we got a lot of pleasant surprises. Bed was decorated with balloons and a towel cake placed at the center with a greeting card next to it. There were some chocolates & fruits on the table. They even sent a cake later in the evening 🙂

P.S. I had informed them that we are visiting on the occasion of my birthday when they had sent out the ‘Personal Preferences form’ a week before the check-in date.

The room had a huge balcony with a beautiful view of the artificial lake which had the room blocks on one side and the golf course on the other side. The Nandi hills were clearly visible in the backdrop from the room balcony and it was a really beautiful sight. The room interior was very classy with modern design and a pretty spacious washroom. There was also a walk-in closet area with ample space.

Resort Experience

The resort is really huge and spread over an area of 275 acres. There were a lot of amenities in the resort that we got to try. There is an entertainment hub cum game room, fitness center, Spa & hot tub, Kids activity center, a ‘Cigar room’, Mini-golf course and so much more besides variety of restaurants, an executive lounge and last but not the least a state-of-the-art 18-hole golf course.

If you book Executive Club room or a higher category room you get complimentary access to the Executive lounge OR you can pay around Rs. 7000 for entry and enjoy complimentary alcoholic drinks with choice of snacks and dishes.

Restaurants

There are a total of 6 restaurants & bars in the resort so you will not feel any lack of choices for sure. Check out the pics below.

  • Aaleeshan – It is an Awadhi cuisine restaurant with specialities like Kebabs, Curries, & Biryanis. The ambience is also very true to the cuisine as you get vibes of Awadh region.
  • East – This restaurant serves dishes of Japanese, Korean and Cantonese cuisines.
  • Truffle & co. – This is not a proper restaurant but a bakery sort of place. You can enjoy nice pastries, cake and all sort of gourmet breads.
  • Vista – This is a casual dining restaurant where they serve alcoholic as well as soft drinks. During day time, you can sit and have chit chat over tea or coffee as well.
  • Flamingo – If you want to enjoy delicious cocktails & drinks at an open-air bar with a sunset terrace with chill rhythmic music, then you will definitely like Flamingo bar. You can also go for a swim or relax on the lounge chairs next to the pool in front of the bar
  • The Aviary – This is the primary all day dining restaurant where they serve complimentary buffet breakfast and other meals if that’s part of your booking. You can also go for à la carte to enjoy authentic international dishes, south Indian cuisine and much more. They have sitting arrangement inside the restaurant and also near the pool area.

Convention Center

The resort houses a fully equipped Convention Center spread over 35,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 4,000 guests. On the day of my visit, Audi was doing the launch event of their latest electric SUV car Q8 e-tron at the convention center.

Spa Center & Entertainment Hub

There is a 20000 sq. ft. spa center which has luxurious therapy rooms, fully equipped fitness center, a temperature-controlled lagoon pool with a relaxing jacuzzi.

You can also unwind and play games at the entertainment hub like mini bowling alley, augmented reality golf, snooker, foosball, air hockey, table tennis, badminton, etc. Some of the activities are complimentary while others like bowling and air hockey is chargeable.

Kid’s Activity Center

If you are visiting with a toddler or a kid, then you will appreciate the Kid’s club where you can spend some time doing fun activities like playing board games, soft toys and read story books with your little one. They also have a supervisor at the premise all the time.

Golf Course

Due to lack of time I didn’t get a chance to opt for a golf lesson which I had planned. I did however got a ride on the golf cart to explore the resort & the golf course as the resort’s staff was courteous enough to show us around the property including the lane where all the Pool & Presidential Villas were.

In case you want to play a game of golf or get a lesson you would need to do booking in advance (1 week or so). If you have a premium credit card like Amex Platinum charge card, Axis Reserve credit card or Standard Chartered Ultimate credit card, then you can book a complimentary golf session without having to pay any charges.

Other Leisure activities

There are a plenty of other things to do at the resort if you have time –

Morning Yoga

For all the guests and especially early risers 😉 another complimentary activity to engage in would be to go for early morning Yoga at the Spa center.

Outdoor Activities

You can book sightseeing tours off the resort to nearby attractions like Nandi Hills or Grover Zampa Vineyards and many more. The packages range from Rs. 5000 – 20000 and time it takes to complete the tour varies depending on how far the sight is. You can find out the package details here.

Mini Golf Course

If you are an amateur like me 🙂 when it comes to golf, then you can test the waters at the mini-golf course which is completely complimentary.

Evening Fun

You can partake in complimentary Canvas painting activity next to the mini-golf course where you can let the artist in you come out and paint your imagination.

Once you are done with creating a masterpiece 😉 you can sit on the grass and have complimentary coffee, masala chai and snacks with a local flavour served on colourful stalls. They call this Halli Katte which is the name of the tradition based on local culture of Karnataka villages.

After the sunset, you can do stargazing from the terrace in the welcome lobby if the sky is clear.

Breakfast Experience

The breakfast spread was really extensive and they even had a wide array of desserts. You would be really spoilt for choices 🙂 We had taken a table next to the lap-pool outside the Aviary restaurant as the weather was very pleasant outside.

They have live counter as well where you can get on-demand dosas, omelette, parathas among many other things. The entire resort staff which was on duty during the breakfast was very polite and they all were really well behaved. Honestly, I have never seen such hospitality before.

Virtual Tour

Try out this virtual tour to get a feeling of being there 🙂
